In class we are going to be having another presentation, however unlike the last presentation that was a website and prezi, we will be making a short video about a cause you find meaningful and support it. The topic the group I am in is about food and the environment, which can cover quite a number of different areas. With a topic like this it will be important that we narrow the topic down so that we aren’t too vague and still can cover what we need to clearly. I personally like the topic we are covering because food is a very important source in the world, and while searching about issue revolving food, is that we waste way too much food, and it is slowly affecting the environment.(Food waste) The main reason for this is that we produce a significantly higher amount of food then we actually consume. Knowing this it makes me want to find out about more issues that the food has effected the environment.

  1. I have thought about this many times and there aren’t really any good be all end all solutions but instead many steps the world needs to take to stop food waste. One of the ones that I love that France popularized was that all supermarkets must give the food they can sell charity. Most often the food won’t even be past the sell by date and the store must throw it out because it has a bruise. If you want a really good documentary from the Canadian Broadcasting Company about food waste check this out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLqkV8cP4xs

  2. I am in the same group as you and I am looking forward to researching for this group. I think it will be interesting to see how food waste has effected the environment. We as Americans waste a lot of food. So I would picture that there are thousands of landfills filled with food that has been wasted. That has to has a big impact on the environment. Not only is it taking up a lot of space, but will will take some time to decompose. So I am looking forward to this project.
