Lets Present a presentation

This week was full of presentations covering tuckmans 5 stages of group development. Each group used different means to cover these 5 stages. Most groups decided to use movies or television series to cover this such as "Friends", "The Longest Yard", "School or Rock", and "Cool Runnings". Each one of these movies covers the 5 stages in many ways. Some were more interesting and understanding while others were a bit more in depth where you would have to look into it to see it. Each one also had stronger points in them in others when it came to identify which stage what which. In the movies such as "The Longest Yard" and "Cool Running" it is very clear where the stages are covered. Such examples is the forming stages of these movies where there are either tryouts to join a team. These movies also showed the conflicts that are seen in the storming stages where people show their opinions in a serious manner or a comical one such as in "The Longest Yard" for example when Brucy wants asked why he couldn't be quarterback. (Why can't I be QB?). Each presentation definitely had its strong points and were well made to showcase exactly how it covered the 5 stages of group development.

  1. I agree with how you saw the presentations. Some groups gave us great overviews of the groups that they decided to discuss and explained how they fit into Tuckman’s 5 stages. While others went into depth for the stage and tied them to the group that they choose. An example of this is the group who did School of Rock and how critical they were of the norming phase. I do not believe that either method is wrong and each has their own approach. So it was good to see both ways so we could understand better.
